October · Week 3: God’s Word Is Greater Than Fear!

Day 19 · Friday with Ms. Rose

I know what God has given me! Through Christ Jesus, I can walk in power, show His love, and use a sound mind!

Book connection: Fear Not

Scripture

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

Ms. Rose and the Three Gifts from God

It was Friday morning in Safari Forest, and the Kingdom Kids were gathering beneath their favorite big tree.

But something was different today.

Ms. Rose had placed three beautifully wrapped presents on a little wooden table.

One was red, one was pink, and one was bright yellow.

Sophie gasped.

“PRESENTS?! Is it somebody's birthday?”

Timmy raised his trunk excitedly. “Is there cake?”

Ian stretched his long neck to get a better look.

“Interesting! Three presents, five friends, and no birthday decorations. This requires further investigation!”

Bleu giggled as she fluttered around the table.

“Maybe it's a surprise celebration!”

Ms. Rose smiled.

“It certainly is a celebration! Today we're celebrating something wonderful that God has given us!”

The Kingdom Kids gathered closer.

“Now,” Ms. Rose began, opening her Bible, “we've been learning from 2 Timothy 1:7 all week. Who remembers what God's Word says?”

Timmy lifted his trunk.

“God hasn't given us the spirit of fear!”

“That's right,” Ms. Rose said. “And what has He given us?”

All four friends shouted together.

“POWER, LOVE, AND A SOUND MIND!”

Ms. Rose clapped her hands.

“Wonderful! Now let's see what's inside these presents.”

She pointed to the first gift.

“Timmy, would you open the red one?”

Timmy carefully untied the ribbon and lifted the lid.

Inside was a card with one big word:

POWER!

“Ooooh!” Timmy exclaimed. “Does that mean I can lift a whole tree?”

Sophie burst into laughter.

“Timmy! You already try to lift everything!”

Ms. Rose chuckled.

“Not quite, Timmy. God's power isn't about showing off how strong we are. Through Christ, we can be strengthened to do what is right and stand on His truth.”

Bleu fluttered forward.

“Like when I helped Lilly discover that she could use her gifts to help others?”

“Exactly!” Ms. Rose answered. “You used God's truth to encourage someone.”

She turned to Sophie.

“Would you open the pink gift?”

Sophie eagerly pulled off the ribbon.

Inside was another card.

LOVE!

Sophie smiled.

“I know this one!”

“Tell us about it,” Ms. Rose encouraged.

Sophie looked at her friends.

“I learned that being a good leader isn't just about being first. I can listen, share, and help everyone shine!”

Timmy grinned. “And you let me decorate the top of the tree!”

Sophie laughed. “And you did a great job!”

Ms. Rose nodded.

“God's love helps us think about others. When we walk in His love, it changes how we speak, lead, forgive, and treat one another.”

Then Ms. Rose pointed to the yellow gift.

“Ian, would you open the last one?”

Ian stepped forward proudly.

“Finally! The moment my investigation has been leading to!”

He lifted the lid.

Inside was a card that read:

A SOUND MIND!

Ian's eyes lit up.

“That's what I learned at the bridge!”

“Tell us,” Ms. Rose said.

Ian stood tall.

“I learned that just because I imagine something might happen doesn't mean it's true. God has given me a sound mind so I can think clearly, use wisdom, and make good decisions!”

“Very good, Ian!” Ms. Rose replied.

Timmy looked at the three cards on the table.

“Ms. Rose, I have a question.”

“Yes, Timmy?”

“Are these presents for all of us, or do we each get only one?”

Ms. Rose smiled.

“Oh, Timmy, that's the best part!”

She picked up all three cards and held them together.

“God's Word doesn't say He gave one child power, another child love, and another child a sound mind.”

The Kingdom Kids leaned closer.

“God has given us all three!”

Bleu twirled through the air.

“All THREE? That's wonderful!”

“Yes!” Ms. Rose answered. “And we don't have to earn them by being the fastest, the smartest, or the strongest. We learn what God's Word says, believe His truth, and grow in living it out.”

Sophie looked at the presents.

“So the gifts were already ours?”

“The boxes are just reminders,” Ms. Rose explained. “The real gifts aren't inside these boxes. God's Word tells us what He has given us.”

Ian nodded thoughtfully.

“So we don't have to guess who we are or what God has given us. We can read His Word and know!”

“Exactly!” Ms. Rose said.

Then she placed the three cards side by side.

POWER. LOVE. A SOUND MIND.

“Now, Kingdom Kids, I want you to remember something important.”

She pointed to her Bible.

“We don't build our identity on what someone says about us, what we feel in a moment, or what a passing thought tells us.”

She smiled at each of them.

“Our identity is found in Christ Jesus. And God's Word teaches us how to live in that truth!”

Timmy raised his trunk.

“I have an idea! Can we say our verse together?”

“Of course!” Ms. Rose replied.

And beneath the big tree, the Kingdom Kids stood together and declared:

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind!”

Bleu fluttered happily above her friends.

“Best presents EVER!”

Ms. Rose laughed.

“And the wonderful thing is, God's Word is a gift we can keep learning from every single day.”

That Friday, the Kingdom Kids went home with more than a memory of three colorful presents.

They were growing in the knowledge of who they are in Christ Jesus and learning to live in the power, love, and sound mind God has given them!

Let's Grow

God's Word tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that He has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

These three gifts aren't rewards for being good enough, brave enough, or smart enough.

They remind us of what God has provided and how we can live as we grow in Christ Jesus.

Power: Through Christ, we can be strengthened to stand on God's truth and do what is right.

Love: God's love teaches us to treat others with kindness, patience, forgiveness, and compassion.

A Sound Mind: God has equipped us to think clearly, learn His Word, seek wisdom, and make decisions that honor Him.

Each Kingdom Kid learned something different this week, but Ms. Rose helped them understand that all three truths belong together.

We don't have to compare ourselves to others or define ourselves by a passing thought or feeling.

We can open God's Word and discover what He says about us.

As parents, we have a wonderful opportunity to help our children grow up knowing their identity in Christ rather than allowing the world to define them.

The more children learn what God's Word says, the more they can recognize His truth, believe it, speak it, and apply it to their everyday lives.

Think About It

What were the three gifts Ms. Rose placed on the table?

Does God give us only one of these gifts, or does His Word tell us He has given us all three?

How did Timmy, Ian, Sophie, and Bleu demonstrate what they learned this week?

Which of these gifts can you practice using today: power, love, or a sound mind?

Say It Together

God has given me power, love, and a sound mind! I belong to Jesus, and His Word teaches me who I am and how to live!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and for the wonderful truth of who I am in Christ Jesus. Thank You that You have not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Holy Spirit, continue teaching me what Your Word says. Help me recognize the power You have given me, walk in Your love, and use a sound mind to make wise decisions. Teach me to believe Your truth, speak Your truth, and live according to Your Word every day. Thank You that my identity is found in Jesus Christ. In His mighty name, amen.

Kingdom Kids Declaration
