Week 2: I Don't Have to Be Afraid

Day 11 · Thursday with Bleu

I can speak God’s truth when fear gets loud.

Book connection: Fear Not

Scripture

“When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.”
Psalm 56:3

Bleu Finds Her Voice

Bleu was fluttering through Safari Forest when Ian called her name. He was standing near a narrow trail and said his mind kept telling him something bad might happen.

Bleu remembered his “what if” lesson. She could have simply said, “Don't be scared!” But she knew something better.

Bleu thought carefully. She didn't want to say something just because it sounded encouraging. She wanted to remind Ian of a truth that actually answered what he was afraid of.

Together they remembered Psalm 56:3 and that they could trust God when they felt afraid.

Bleu said, “Fear can be loud, Ian. So sometimes we need to say God's truth out loud too!”

Ian spoke the truth aloud and they started down the trail together.

A little farther along, Bleu heard a CRACK and shot into the air. Now Ian encouraged her. “Bleu? Jesus is with you.”

Bleu laughed, took a breath, and received the encouragement.

She realized: “Sometimes I need someone to remind me of God's truth—and sometimes I can be the one who reminds someone else.”

Let's Grow

God didn't make us to grow all by ourselves. Sometimes we need encouragement, and sometimes someone else needs us. Biblical encouragement is not merely saying something nice or telling someone not to be afraid. We listen to what they are actually facing and point them toward the truth they need from God's Word. Sometimes, while encouraging someone else, the truth we speak strengthens our own heart too.

Think About It

Who encourages you when you're afraid or worried? Who could you encourage? What is that person actually facing, and what truth from God's Word speaks to that need?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for the people who encourage me and remind me of Your truth. When fear gets loud, help me speak Your Word instead of speaking more fear. Holy Spirit, show me when someone needs encouragement and help me know what truth from Your Word addresses what they are facing. When I need encouragement, help me receive it too. In Jesus' name, amen.

Kingdom Kids Declaration

I receive knowledge. I do not reject it or turn away from it. My heart is open to receive. My mind is ready to be renewed. Holy Spirit, I ask You to help me apply it to my life. Amen.

Now Let's Apply It!

Same story, same truth. Find your level.

  • Little Explorers

    Preschool–Kindergarten

With a grown-up practice: “Jesus is with you!” / “Jesus is with you too!” Then say, “We can trust Jesus!” Today encourage someone with a true word about Jesus.

  • Trail Adventurers

    Grades 1–2

Make an encouragement card for someone. First ask what they need encouragement about. Then choose a biblical truth that actually speaks to that need. Write the truth on the card and offer to pray with them.

  • Expedition Adventurers

    Grades 3–5

When someone shares a fear: LISTEN — don't dismiss it. CHECK — what are they actually saying? REMEMBER — what does God's Word say about that need? SPEAK — encourage with the fitting truth. PRAY — offer to pray. Reflect: Did speaking God's truth strengthen your faith too?
