Week 1: Jesus Is With Me

Day 5 · Friday with Ms. Rose

I can believe Jesus is with me because God's Word says He is.

Book connection: Fear Not

Scripture

“Do not fear, for I am with you.”
Isaiah 41:10

Friday at Safari Forest with Ms. Rose

Timmy, Ian, Sophie, and Bleu gathered around Ms. Rose. She listened as each friend shared what had happened during the week.

Timmy had kept walking when he wasn't sure where the trail would lead. Ian learned he didn't have to see everything to know Jesus was with him. Sophie crossed the stream one stepping stone at a time. Bleu discovered Jesus was with her everywhere she went.

Ms. Rose smiled. “You've all learned something very important. But do you know why we can be sure Jesus is with us?”

“Because we feel Him?” Sophie asked.

Ms. Rose gently shook her head. “There may be times when we feel very close to Jesus. But there may also be times when we don't feel anything at all.”

Ian looked puzzled. “Then how do we know?”

Ms. Rose opened her Bible. “Because God has given us His Word.”

She read: “Do not fear, for I am with you.” — Isaiah 41:10

“Our feelings can change,” Ms. Rose explained, “but God's Word does not become untrue just because our feelings change.”

Timmy smiled. “So when I feel alone...”

“God's Word says He is with you,” Ms. Rose answered.

Together the Kingdom Kids learned: Jesus is with us because God has said so.

Let's Grow

When a thought comes, we don't have to automatically believe it. Stop and ask: “What is this thought saying?” Then ask: “What does God's Word say about this?” For example, if the thought says, “I'm all alone,” God's Word answers: “Do not fear, for I am with you.” — Isaiah 41:10. The truth answered the thought. We didn't choose just any true thing from the Bible; we remembered what God has said about the thing we were thinking. As we learn more of God's Word, we'll have more truth in our hearts to remember when different thoughts come. That's one way God's Word begins to renew our minds. We recognize what we're thinking, find out what God says about it, receive His Word as truth, and allow His truth to change the way we think and live.

Think About It

Have you ever felt something that didn't match what God's Word says? Instead of automatically believing the thought, stop and ask: “What is this thought saying?” and “What does God's Word say about this?”

Prayer

Father, thank You for giving us Your Word. Thank You that Your truth does not change when our feelings change. Help us learn Your Word, believe Your Word, and remember Your Word when fear tries to control our thoughts. Holy Spirit, remind us of God's truth and help us live according to what He says. Thank You that we are never alone because You are with us. In Jesus' name, amen.

Kingdom Kids Declaration

I receive knowledge. I do not reject it or turn away from it. My heart is open to receive. My mind is ready to be renewed. Holy Spirit, I ask You to help me apply it to my life. Amen.

Now Let's Apply It!

Same story, same truth. Find your level.

  • Little Explorers

    Preschool–Kindergarten

Have a grown-up read: “God says, ‘I am with you.’” Give yourself a big hug and say: “God's Word is true! Jesus is with me!” Practice: “I am with you.” — Isaiah 41:10.

  • Trail Adventurers

    Grades 1–2

Write: “MY THOUGHT: Sometimes I think ______.” Then write: “GOD'S TRUTH: God says, ‘I am with you.’ — Isaiah 41:10.” Use this example specifically for a thought about being alone or without help. When other thoughts come, ask what God's Word says about that thought.

  • Expedition Adventurers

    Grades 3–5

Choose a thought such as “I'm all alone.” Write: “What am I thinking? / What does that thought make me feel or want to do? / What does God's Word say about THIS thought? / How can I respond differently because I believe God's truth?” Ask the Holy Spirit to help you receive the truth, renew your thinking, and apply it.
